GACRAO’s advanced track curriculum for experienced enrollment service officers, GISEM sessions are designed specifically to address the needs of our senior professionals who require a more substantive selection of sessions dealing with complex issues. This institute is designed for in-service Professionals and delivered as a companion option to the annual state meeting.

Insitute Mission and History

In the late 1980's, enrollment management nationally became a recognized and critical field within colleges and universities and also within the State of Georgia. As a result, many GACRAO members' job responsibilities expanded to include crossover functions including Admissions, Recruitment, Records/Registrar, Financial Aid, and other areas of student services. These members became the first Enrollment Manager pioneers in Georgia. GACRAO continues to serve as the professional organization for Admissions and Records Officers in Georgia.

These upgraded sessions advance progress in professional development as illustrated by the 2005 pilot Advance Track focus for veteran Enrollment Professionals offered at the GACRAO Conference held at Jekyll Island. This pilot won AACRAO’s Elbert Ockerman award for State and Regional Professional Activities.

Professional Development Opportunity

By attending two annual conference institutes and completing prescribed field experiences, GISEM participants attain the distinction of Registered Enrollment Professional (REP). However, completion of the 30 contact hour requirements for the REP is voluntary; veteran professionals may choose to attend the advance track sessions for professional development and not pursue the optional certificate program.

Beginning at the 2006 Annual Conference at the Lanier Islands, specially designed advanced-track sessions offer professional development opportunities for both veteran and new enrollment officers.
